    Tel Aviv

    Elyse and I went to Tel Aviv at both the start and end of our trip. At the beginning, we visited with Elyse's cousin, Wendi, and her wonderful family. When we returned, we spent most of our time at the beach, relaxing and sipping lattes.

    Bahai Gardens

    In Haifa, Elyse and I toured Bahai Gardens, the holy shrine to the Bab, the late spiritual leader of the Bahai people.

  • City Walls 3

    Acco

    From Haifa, Elyse and I traveled about an hour north for a day trip to Acco. Even Napoleon could not conquer the walled city, and thus its name is conspicuously missing from the inside of the Arc de Triomphe in Paris! We toured archaeological excavations; learned about the irate and legendary former governor of Acco, Al Jazzar -- who would cut off people's ears for fun; and ate the Falafel that set our stomaches in motion for the remainder of the trip.

  • Mountain 2

    North

    After Haifa, Elyse and I went up north to Tiberias. While Tiberias is dreadful, we stayed because of its proximity to the Golan, which offers hiking and other fun activities. Also, the Sea of Galilee is beautiful.

    When Elyse and I finished in the north of Israel, we took the toll road down to Jerusalem. First, we visited the Arab Shuk (outdoor market).

    Elyse and I visited the Temple Mount, at Mount Moriah in the Old City of Jerusalem.

  • The Only Disgusting Thing I Saw Here

    Jewish Shuk

    Last stop in Jerusalem was Machonei-Yehuda, the Jewish Shuk. Here, we got the best rugalach on Earth from Marzapan. I always make a point to get them while in Jerusalem, and I consider eating them one of the top ten experiences in my life.
